On 21 July, ICCAS hosted the kick-off event for the project 3MP-FUS at SIKT. The cooperation partners from science and industry set out the route for further developing and testing of a “multi-modal, multi-parameter, platform-independent focused ultrasound system” (3MP-FUS) for neuromodulation in dystonia and early-adult Parkinson’s disease. 3MP-FUS will be integrated into MRI and PET\/MRI and should thus be able to very specifically reach circumscribed brain regions and change their function.
\nThe project will run for three years and is funded with a total of 7.9 million euros by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.<\/p>\n
