The event focused on the question of how science and industry can work together to shape innovations and drive forward the digital transformation in the healthcare sector.<\/p>\n<p>ICCAS researchers presented current developments in medical technology at six interactive stations. Visitors were given vivid insights into technologies such as digital surgical assistance, modern imaging procedures and a networked patient room of the future. It became clear how these applications not only improve medical care, but can also open up concrete prospects for medium-sized industry. Robotic systems and interactive technologies that are being developed and tested at ICCAS were also presented at the event and met with great interest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prof. Dr. In\u00e9s Obergfell<\/strong>, Rector of Leipzig University, emphasized in her welcoming address that healthcare is in the midst of a profound digital transformation. It is necessary to play an active role in shaping this change. As one of the leading research institutions for computer-assisted surgery and medical technology, the ICCAS makes a significant contribution to this, as it offers a platform on which innovative products can be developed, tested in practice and transferred to industry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prof. Dr. Ingo Bechmann<\/strong>, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, also underlined the importance of the ICCAS for medical training. The integration of medical informatics and medical technology into courses such as electives, seminars or practical projects creates the basis for future graduates not only to be excellent clinicians, but also to be competent users and co-designers of digital innovations.<\/p>\n<p>At ICCAS, experts from the fields of medicine, computer science and engineering work together on an interdisciplinary basis to develop technologies that improve diagnostics, support treatment decisions and make surgical procedures safer. In this context, the Technical Director of ICCAS, <strong>Prof. Dr. Thomas Neumuth<\/strong>, pointed out that one of the central objectives of the center is to secure the future of medical care &#8211; through digital, technology-supported solutions that are consistently oriented towards the needs of clinical practice.<\/p>\n<p>The network meeting at ICCAS impressively illustrated how productive the direct exchange between research and industry can be &#8211; and the potential that lies in practical medical technology for society and industry alike.
