On May 13th, 2025, we, the Innovation Center Computer Assisted Surgery (ICCAS) of the Medical Facultyof Leipzig University, celebrated our 20th anniversary – a significant milestone in the history of our institute. Together with current employees, alumni, former companions, members of the scientific advisory board and representatives of the administration, we were able to look back on two decades of successful research and development in the field of computer-assisted surgery.<\/p>\n

The anniversary celebration not only provided space to look back and exchange ideas, but was also the occasion for this year’s meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board. Current projects, strategic priorities and future development prospects were discussed in a constructive atmosphere. The committee’s assessments and recommendations are a valuable contribution to the ongoing development of ICCAS.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, our guests took the opportunity to get to know the center as part of a guided tour. Our teams presented current demonstrators, research projects and technological developments at several stations – an insight that was met with great interest.<\/p>\n

The event concluded with a festive ceremony followed by a get-together. After introductory remarks by Prof. Dr. Andreas Melzer and Prof. Dr. Thomas Neumuth, words of welcome were delivered by Prof. Dr. Jens-Karl Eilers (Vice-Rector of Leipzig University), Prof. Dr. Ingo Bechmann (Dean of the Faculty of Medicine), Prof. Dr. J\u00fcrgen Meixensberger, Prof. Dr. Heinz U. Lemke, Dr. Randy Kurz (Office for Economic Development of the City of Leipzig) and Moritz John (Leipzig Chamber of Industry and Commerce), among others.<\/p>\n

The subsequent get-together focused on exchange, networking and shared memories – in the spirit of our vibrant research community.<\/p>\n

We look back with pride on 20 years of interdisciplinary research, dedicated teamwork and numerous innovations in the service of medical technology. We would like to thank all our companions, partners and supporters – and look forward to many more years together, characterized by new impulses and exciting challenges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
