Co-authorship of the position paper of the DGBMT in VDE

The Deutsche Gesellschaft der Biomedizinischen Technik im Verband der Elektrotechnik Elektronik und Informationstechnik e.V. (DGBMT in VDE) presents its current position paper on structural change in the sector through digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI). ICCAS director Andreas Melzer is a member of the society’s board of directors and, as co-author, played a key role in shaping the content of the new publication. His long-standing expertise fed into the paper primarily in relation to the ever-growing application fields of medical robotics and image-guided techniques. In addition, the VDE DGBMT has identified microsystems and technology, smart nano/bio materials, and networked systems technology, digitalization and AI as key technologies on the path to structural change to ensure that European biomedical engineering remains competitive and a global leader.
