Prof. Dr. Haak is Director of the Polyclinic for Tooth Preservation and Periodontology at the University of Leipzig. He received his doctorate in dentistry from the Free University of Berlin in 1992 and moved to Cologne as an associate professor in 1996. In addition, he is one of the first qualified specialists in preventive and restorative dentistry and was awarded a Master of Medical Education (MME) from the University of Heidelberg in 2008. His research focuses on innovative methods for caries detection and assessment, therapeutic decision-making and adhesive dentistry, as well as medical education and, in particular, dentist-patient communication. Since 2018, Mr. Haak has been part of the editorial group of the National Competence-Based Learning Objectives Catalogue for Dentistry (NKLZ) and has been a member of the task force “Future of Dental Studies” of the Medical Faculty Association (MFT) since 2020.
